Omega did not turn this case, it pressed and tempered it into an elliptical form that measures around 43mm across without the crowns, 46mm with them, 52mm from end to end and 15mm deep, then finished it as a broad brushed top plane meeting sharply cut flanks. The entire look of the watch lives on that meeting line. The crystal carries scratches. They are confined to the crystal itself and the dial beneath is untouched, which is the distinction that matters. The bracelet is also unpolished and matches the case, with the flat brushed link surfaces intact rather than buffed bright. It shows light stretch, which is expected at this age.

Dial and Hands

The dial is in very good condition and the hands are in very good condition with it. That is worth pausing on, because a Flightmaster dial has far more to go wrong than a plain three hander. The subdial tracks and the outer scale remain sharp, the luminous plots sit evenly in their positions without lifting or loss, and the hands retain their original form and finish across the timekeeping, chronograph and GMT sets. Nothing has been replaced with the wrong length or the wrong colour, which is the usual damage on a watch that spent decades being serviced by people who saw it as a tool rather than as a collectable.

Use Advisory

This watch should be treated as a vintage timepiece.
