Rolex Datejust 36MM Diamond Dial 16233G 1991 Box & Papers
This 1990 Rolex Datejust 16233G is currently for sale and presents a blend of preserved features with slight signs of wear. The case and bracelet are in good condition. There are light hairline scratches visible on the bracelet, typical of normal use over the years, yet these do not detract significantly from the watch’s overall appearance. Notably, there is no oxidation on the gold elements, maintaining the integrity and luster of the 18k yellow gold.
The dial of the watch has developed a patina, transitioning into a rich bronze colour that adds a unique vintage appeal and character to the timepiece. This patination process is a desirable trait among vintage collectors, as it signifies the natural aging of the materials and contributes to the individuality of each piece. Additionally, the hands of the watch are flawless, with no signs of wear or damage.

Why we love this watch
Why we love this watch
The Rolex Datejust, since its inception in 1945 to commemorate Rolex’s 40th anniversary, has epitomised elegance in watchmaking. There are few watches more stylish than a two-tone Datejust with a fluted bezel. As the first wristwatch to also feature an automatically changing date displayed through a window on the dial, the Datejust set a new benchmark for functionality and became an instant classic. Over the years, this iconic model has evolved, maintaining its foundational features while embracing subtle but impactful enhancements.
Among the various iterations of the Datejust, the two-tone Rolex Datejust 16233G stands out with its luxurious enhancements and superb craftsmanship. This model elevates the traditional aesthetic with its brilliant diamond hour markers, which add an element of sophistication and sparkle that is both eye-catching and tasteful. The integration of diamonds in the watch’s design not only enhances its visual appeal but also underscores Rolex’s commitment to combining opulence with utility.
The two-tone configuration of the 16233G melds stainless steel with 18k yellow gold, striking a perfect balance between resilience and luxury. This combination not only enhances the watch’s visual appeal but also offers a versatile look that is suitable for both formal and casual settings. The 36mm case size is thoughtfully chosen to fit a wide array of wrist sizes comfortably, making it a suitable choice for a diverse clientele.
Under the hood, the Rolex Datejust 16233G is powered by the Calibre 3135 movement. The movement features a quickset date function, which allows the wearer to adjust the date quickly and easily without interfering with the time. Furthermore, the Calibre 3135 includes a Parachrom hairspring, an innovation that provides greater resistance to shocks and temperature variations, ensuring superior performance in all conditions.
Another hallmark of the 16233G is its Jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel, both of which are signature elements of the Datejust line. The fluted bezel, originally designed to serve a functional purpose by helping to screw the bezel onto the case to ensure water resistance, has become a symbol of Rolex’s attention to detail and craftsmanship.
In essence, the Rolex Datejust 16233G represents a perfect marriage of luxury and practicality. Its diamond embellishments elevate the classic two-tone design, making it a standout piece in any watch collection. Whether worn at a gala or in everyday settings, the Datejust 16233G remains a timeless statement piece, a testament to Rolex’s enduring commitment to excellence and style. This model not only continues the legacy of the pioneering 1945 Datejust but also enhances it, promising to remain a coveted piece for generations to come, proving that true style indeed never goes out of fashion. These models sell quickly, so make an appointment and come in and try it on.
